A Concession Speech

Along with the immense stresses put upon me this essential week before thanksgiving break, i’ve recently been elected Chairman of Happiness for several people.

being responsible for other people’s happiness is a tough job. And obviously, if you don’t realize that you’re supposed to be said Chairman, it’s very difficult to fulfill your duites.

I’ve been so busy, more stressed about my schoolwork than any other time in my life, and taking on this esteemed position is just too much for me. I appreciate the gracious support from my fans, but trust me. setting me up with this job, this week, is just setting yourself up for cloudy days of sadness.

In declining this offer of chairmanship i want you all to realize that i am not abandoning you. Your high estimation of my ability flatters me, but it takes a bigger man than I to conquer the demands that are on me.

However, i will not leave you without a word of advice. With happiness, as with most matters of personal emotion, use this rule of thumb:

Look inside yourself. Know Yourself. The only person who directs the way you feel is yourself.

True Dat.

Everyone is responsible for his or her own happiness. You can get up in the morning and be happy with your health, your accomplishments, etc. and look forward to having a good day or you can sit on your pitty pot and complain. And the grass is not greener on the other side of the fence. So don’t even go there. Looking forward to Thanksgiving.

“Happiness is different things to different people” I’d be happy knowing what happiness is.

    Hi Dave,
You are so deep and perceptive as you have always been since about age 5. As always, you speak from the bottom of my heart which at this time is not smiling, but with your gentle reminder, if i just stand on my head, it will turn into a smile. So, i hope my arms are strong enough to sustain this “smile” at least until it comes more naturally.
    Love you lots
