life and motivation

the air is getting dry and chilled and when i roll off my bed at 7:50 to go to class for 8:00, my pajama bottoms prove to my sleepy legs how little insulation they provide. i wonder why, if i had 10 hours to do my homework after classes were over yesterday, did i not even start it.

it’s been a few weeks since i’ve jammed with anybody. it seems like when i pick up my guitar i beat out a few tasteless licks and play the same old chords.

lunch lines are ridiculously long and i’m tired of sitting in the same place every other day, packt around the same table during the noon rush eating cereal or fruit or soup because it’s convenient.

tomorrow is friday and some things need to get done.

(if i say that with firmness, maybe i’ll be more inclined to do them. but i know this weekend will unravel away into days and hours and minutes, with me occasionally glancing at my watch or at a clock and thinking “okay, how much more time do i have left of this weekend before i have to start things?”)

next week i need:
1. a kick in the pants
2. a fresh shipment of brains
3. to remember to wear shoes

dawn breaks like a bull through the hall
never should have called
but my head’s to the wall and i’m lonely

this quote (from this very excellent song) sort of explains my fall break. fall break, by the way, was too short. did i mention that already? perhaps it was the point of a previous post? oh yeah, just FYI, fall break wasn’t long enough. and for those people who complained about my 30 hour day change, i suggest you take an emergency vacation before you start complaining how life expectancy is increasing every few years.

still haven’t sat down and done anything purposeful in my free time. my own suggestions to myself: draw, write, read, somethinganythingwhere i don’t have to break out my ti-83. please.

tomorrow is “jersey friday” again for the pledges in my fraternity. i’m going to pretend like i forgot. i’m usually pretty good about their silly rules, though.

multivariable calculus exam on monday. whoops. haven’t done the “suggested homework” in that class since 8-20-2004.

and now, it’s time to get back to work.

OK, to motivate you to do more, and complain less, I’ve taken the liberty of ordering your Christmas present early. Here’s a photo of the actual order from the Musician’s Friend site.

So as you can see, you have a lot to hope for. Now, get to work, lazy bones!
