tonight we did “Room Selection” for next semester. There being a large number of incoming sophomores, and a high demand for certain dormitories, we all chose rooms by lottery. Basically, everyone is randomly assigned a number, then has 2 weeks to decide who to room with and where they want to live. The lower the number, the better, since the numbers are then called in numerical order. it would be advantageous for a person with a high number, say, 362, to be rooming with someone with a lower number, say, 67.
Far and above, the best dorm to live in is Mercer Hall. It’s set up in 4-person suites, where each person has their own separate room and everyone shares a common living area. It also has a very small number of 2-person suites with the same setup.
By Chance, and Coincedince, and Fate, and unusual circumstance, Me and my friend Travis are rooming together next semester in one of the very rare 2-person rooms; in fact, the last room available.
Plus: i am scheduling my classes for next semester… by another fluke, tuesdays and thursdays, i might have no classes. and no, i won’t be killed on the rest of the days b/c i might only have to take 13 hours, since i’m ahead on my math track. or, i could take an elective for another 3 hours. how sweet is that.
Plus: looking to save money on food, by getting a 12-meal plan and not wasting those extra meals (the breakfasts) that i never use.
i’m tired of being a freshman.
Being a sophomore is kind of like being invisible, however. Freshmen get all kinds of attention since they are new and young, Juniors are looking for big internships, Seniors are graduating and sophmores are just kind of there, doing whatever. Not quite good enough to get an awsome job, but on their way enough to be ignored by the administration. It’s weird but cool at the same time.
