Statistics show that more people visit www.davidcomeaux.com during the beginning of the week (mondays-wednesdays) than during the weekend. interesting. perhaps i should post more often on sundays to provide something to read for the monday-wednesday crowd.
i spent the weekend studying… more or less. big chem test on tuesday. chem lab, also on tuesday. outline of textbook chapter, tuesday as well. (sense a trend?)
i also happened to attend a black fraternity initiation… it was a “step” performance of sorts. for some reason, maybe the communal calls or the constant phat drum beats, it seemed very tribal to me… at any rate, it was a cultural experience.
i was going to get to sleep tonight at a reasonable hour; alas, guitar buddy derek just walked in. “the best laid plans”. oh well. i’ll just break out the Organic Blue Corn chips and the Roasted Red Pepper Hummus and finish the post before 12:30.
jamming can be so wonderful. the other day i went to my room and started playing in hopes that if joey (roomie) walked in he’d jam along, but (silly me) he didn’t come in that afternoon. so i hooked up my amp to my computer last night and recorded my own jams. the only good part about computer recording is that i can redo solos and experiment with styles, as well as much-needed practice. While i was dinking around in ProTools, i opened up some things that me and jon did a while back, this past summer. Jon and I just groove… we meld so well. from an objective perspective, it’s not all great stuff; but we have always been right on with each other. the best part, completely subjective, of course, and only applicable to me, is listening and recalling exactly the build and the mood and the musical journey to get there. And, what a surprise, jon recently said in an email to me that he also misses jamming together. man. sometimes i think my brainwaves are broadcast like electromagnetic radiation.
anyways. i am still working on getting the drum track put down for the song that i’m working on (its gonna be good). who’s got time these days. i am also considering taking a few cuts from my recent guitar piddlings and posting them. and as a supreme right-brain goal for myself, i really really want to write some more… i have been relatively deprived. perchance i should write during vacation? that always turns out.
me and des went to the store(s) today. and i forgot about eveything i needed. as a somewhat humorous follow up to the recent christmas list, here is my personal shopping list.
- pine orange juice
- milk
- granola bars
- cereal
- dual-1/8″-mono-to-1/8″-stereo phono converter (matched impedance)
i know, it’s not as funny as the first time. if i don’t joke about my dorkiness then i’m just a non-fun dork. it boosts my self esteem if i think you’re laughing with me, not at me.
if i don’t finish this post pretty soon, i will, like my beloved Grandmre likes to say, “turn into a pumpkin.” This being late October, and in fact only 3 days away from halloween, i should avoid that situation. happy birthday, meanwhile, to Susan Singh and Bradley Champagne!
zzzzzz
I see you’ve added color to your blogmail. Wow. That’s so fast; you haven’t had this email address very long.
Now we have your Christmas list and your Grocery -store list. Albertson’s here doesn’t carry the phono mixer. I’ll check Wal-Mart.
Love, Dad.
